Domestic Violence

New Jersey Domestic Violence and Family Abuse Lawyers

A divorce or other family dispute can involve domestic abuse. Anger and emotions can lead to assault or abuse between family members, roommates and dating couples.   It may also be the case that someone will file false domestic violence charges to gain an advantage during divorce or other conflicts. At Copeland, Shimalla, Wechsler & Lepp, LLP in Warren, New Jersey, our attorneys are dedicated to protecting the rights of our clients when domestic violence issues arise.

We are dedicated to ensuring the safety and protection of victims as well as asserting the rights on behalf of those falsely accused of spousal abuse. If you need legal advice with respect to a domestic violence issue or problem, contact our offices

Restraining Orders

A TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) is available for anyone who has been threatened or victimized by domestic abuse. If you are in danger, contact your local police department. Once a TRO is filed, a hearing is usually scheduled within 10 days to determine whether an FRO (Final Restraining Order) should be granted. Contact our firm if you would like us to represent you in finalizing a TRO or in disputing a TRO that you feel has been unfairly entered against you.

Protecting victims of abuse

Our attorneys are committed to asserting the rights of abuse victims. If you or a loved one is endangered, our attorneys can help you take legal action to prevent future harm or abuse. Whether the abuse involves a divorce proceeding, or you have been victimized throughout your relationship, we can help you protect yourself and your children from an abuser.

Domestic violence defense

Our attorneys are experienced in handling domestic violence cases that involve false accusations. Our attorneys can help you defend yourself against the finalization of a TRO. Without skilled defense, you may risk losing custody, access to your home, your professional license, or even possible jail time

At Copeland, Shimalla, Wechsler & Lepp, LLP , we work to resolve domestic violence issues and represent clients in family court hearings regarding Temporary Restraining Orders, Consent Orders, and Final Restraining Orders.
